The Riverina Area Consultative Committee (RACC) is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of
Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government and is one of 54 Area Consultative Committees
throughout Australia .

In November 2008 the Hon. Gary Gray MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Development & Northern Australia announced that
the new RDA (Regional Development Australia) network across Australia will build on and replace the Commonwealth Government
Area Consultative Committees (ACC's) by aligning, with State & Territory regional planning and consultative bodies. In NSW the
existing NSW Government's 13 Regional Development Boards with the Commonwealth's 14 ACC's will be brought together to
establish a network of Regional Development Australia (RDA). As both organizations have initiatives underway there will be a
transition process with the new organizations expected to be operational by 1 st July 2009.

The new organization will be referred to as Regional Development Australia-Riverina (RDA-Riverina). For further information
regarding the changes to ACC's go to the following websites:- www.acc.gov.au or www.infrastructure.gov.au

It is proposed that RDA will assist both State & Federal Governments by taking on a broad role to:

•  Provide advice to government about regional issues

•  Provide strategic input into National & State programs

•  Provide information to regional communities & local government on national & state initiatives

•  Help to coordinate regional planning & regional development initiatives and

•  Assists in the development of projects, grant writing process and also promotes various government programs and
funding opportunities to communities.

•  Builds community capacity by connecting people and holding workshops/ seminars.

•  Works in partnership with many organisations in the region, including NSW government agencies, regional bodies, local
governments, business and community groups.
